Singapore and the United States will strengthen cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence. American companies will invest 50 billion yuan in the next few years to promote artificial intelligence infrastructure and research, as well as to cultivate relevant talents. This includes improving the relevant skills of 130,000 local employees, and focusing on cultivating young people, women and other talents in this emerging technology.

Minister for Communications and Information Josephine Teo and US Secretary of Commerce Raymondo announced a series of cooperation projects to be launched by the two countries at the Artificial Intelligence Roundtable today. This includes a new plan to cultivate talents in this emerging technology, especially young people, women and future technology leaders. In addition, companies from both countries will also work together to improve the relevant skills of 130,000 local employees. In addition, in the next few years, American companies will also invest more than 50 billion yuan in Singapore's labor market, infrastructure and related research and development work.

This includes establishing an AI Center of Excellence in local American companies. In terms of strengthening competition in the field of artificial intelligence, the two countries said they would cooperate on the future framework of generative artificial intelligence.

Communications and Information Minister Josephine Teo said: "In the next few years, American companies will easily exceed S$5 billion in committed investments in artificial intelligence and digital technologies. The target is not only our market of 6 million people, but also the surrounding areas. Without rigorous evaluation, these capital investments will not translate into reliable returns on investment. We are glad that Singapore can continue to be part of your success."
