UN resolution: Russia to withdraw from Ukrainian nuclear power plant and return control

The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution demanding that Russia immediately withdraw from the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine and return control to Ukraine.
Reuters reported that the United Nations General Assembly, which has 193 member states, passed the resolution with 99 votes in favor, 9 votes against and 60 abstentions.
The resolution also requires Russia to immediately stop attacking Ukraine's important energy infrastructure.
The Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. Russia occupied the nuclear power plant after invading Ukraine in February 2022. Currently, the nuclear power plant is shut down, but external power is still needed to keep the nuclear fuel cool to prevent meltdown.
Before the vote, Ukraine's ambassador to the United Nations, Kislitsya, called on countries to vote in favor and said that people have a responsibility to future generations to ensure that terrible nuclear disasters will not happen again.
Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Polyansky displayed the wreckage of a Ukrainian drone at the General Assembly and said that Ukraine used a drone to attack the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant in April this year. Ukraine denies the allegations.
