Forest City Special Financial Zone Seminar Wraps Up: Family Offices Emerge as Premier Investment Opp
On October 7, the Marina Hotel in Forest City hosted a successful seminar jointly organized by Forest City and Deloitte Malaysia. The event focused on the growing potential of family offices, with Forest City’s Special Financial Zone (SFZ) gaining prominence as an ideal hub for family wealth management, thanks to its unique advantages.

At the seminar, Chee Pei Pei, an expert in private client services at Deloitte Malaysia, shared insights on selecting the best location for family offices. She emphasized that investors typically consider several factors, including economic and political stability, clear regulatory frameworks, access to talent and technology, quality of life, and regional connectivity. Forest City, with its extensive facilities and numerous advantages, has emerged as a prime destination for investors looking to establish family offices.

A key highlight is the series of incentives introduced by Malaysia’s Ministry of Finance to attract family offices to Forest City’s SFZ. Family offices here enjoy a 20-year tax holiday, with corporate income tax rates as low as 5% for specific financial sectors. Additionally, knowledge-based employees working in the SFZ benefit from a special 15% personal income tax rate, encouraging talent inflow and regional economic growth. The combination of Forest City’s duty-free status and its financial zone creates a powerful economic driver for southern Malaysia, offering an attractive investment environment for global investors.
Chee also highlighted the rapid rise of family offices across Asia, which are becoming a major force in wealth management. Compared to established markets like Singapore, Forest City offers a lower threshold for registering single-family offices, providing wealthy families with more flexible options. By avoiding the intense competition found in more mature markets, Forest City presents a complementary niche market for investors.

With its strategic location, robust facilities, and strong government support, Forest City has become an ideal destination for single-family offices. Not only does it offer a secure and stable environment for investors, but it also provides a high-quality lifestyle for them and their families.
As a well-equipped Special Financial Zone, Forest City is an ideal place to live and work. Its development includes three major commercial areas, offering a wide range of retail and business options for investors and residents. Forest City Financial Center Tower 1, an international flagship business complex, integrates green offices, luxury apartments, and commercial exhibition spaces. With over 800 flexible office units and nearly 300 high-rise apartments, the center meets the needs of both businesses and individuals. The high demand for retail space reflects investors’ confidence in the future growth of Forest City.

The blueprint for the development of the Forest City SFZ is already taking shape. Backed by the strong commitment of the Malaysian government, Forest City is on its way to becoming a globally recognized financial hub. As the SFZ continues to grow, it will attract more skilled talent to Malaysia, solidifying Forest City as a premier destination for global investors.
