Sincere Group plans to invest approximately 250 million yuan to upgrade ground handling operations a

SATS Ltd. announced its plan to invest approximately 250 million Singapore dollars to upgrade ground support equipment and cargo handling capabilities at Changi Airport.
At a press conference today (15th), SATS stated that this investment will support enhancement efforts within its Singapore Hub (SG Hub) division. This division is responsible for managing ground operations at both Changi Airport and Seletar Airport, including passenger and cargo handling.
According to the plan, the company will invest more than 150 million Singapore dollars over the next five years to modernize its fleet of ground support equipment vehicles. This includes upgrading more than 500 specialized commercial vehicles and equipment, accounting for about 40% of the current vehicle fleet in the Singapore Hub.
In addition, the company plans to add 100 new aircraft tow tractors used for airplane towing or pushback operations, as well as main deck loaders used to transport pallets from the ground into aircraft cargo holds, to support growing operational volumes.
Increasing Cargo Handling Capacity by 50%
To cope with rising cargo volumes, SATS will invest 100 million Singapore dollars over the next two years to enhance cargo operations.
Liew Yong Jie, CEO of SATS’ Singapore Hub, said: “We are making this investment now to meet the increasing demand for air cargo and passenger traffic expected to arrive in Singapore in the coming years.”
This phased upgrade will commence by the middle of this year, integrating Singapore Airlines' import, export, and transit cargo operations into one facility. The daily peak handling capacity will increase by more than 50%, rising from 1,750 tons to 3,150 tons.
Beyond these investments, the Singapore Hub will also focus on workforce development, including redesigning job roles, upskilling existing employees, and attracting new talents to join its team of 7,800 staff members.
