Malaysia's Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) announced it will prosecute several suspects allegedly involved in bullying a 13-year-old girl from Sabah.

According to Oriental Daily News, the local Attorney General's Chambers issued a statement today (18th) saying that, after reviewing the police investigation report and based on evidence gathered, it has decided to charge the suspects with bullying offenses. Authorities emphasized that the prosecution process will not affect the ongoing police investigation into the death, including the coroner's inquest.

Today (18th), the coroner's court in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, scheduled the inquest into the death of 13-year-old student Zara to begin on September 3rd.

Earlier reports indicated that the ethnic Malay girl, Zara Qairina, apparently unable to endure bullying by senior students, was found in the early hours of July 16th—around 4 a.m.—after falling from the third floor of a religious boarding school dormitory in Kota Belud, Sabah. She was discovered unconscious in a nearby ditch and later pronounced dead the following day.

Her mother, on August 1st, requested authorities to exhume the body for a fresh autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and called for a coroner's inquest to clarify whether criminal elements were involved in the case.
