The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has launched its largest-ever public consultation exercise for the Land Transport Master Plan starting today. The updated Master Plan is expected to be unveiled in 2027.

Today (15th), Senior Minister of State for Transport, Xiao Zhenxiang, officiated the launch of the 2025 Caring Commuter Week at Tampines Hub. He mentioned that over the next year, the LTA will engage commuters through online and offline means to understand their transportation needs.

Xiao Zhenxiang also revealed that he and Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth and Transport, Ma Yanqing, will participate in the first round of public consultation activities today.

In a press release, the LTA stated that it plans to release the updated Land Transport Master Plan in 2027. To this end, the LTA has updated the webpage for the Land Transport Master Plan.

The public can also go online to register for various consultation activities.

Launch of Fund to Encourage Youth-Driven Caring Commuting Culture

Xiao Zhenxiang also launched the "Young Changemakers - Caring Commuter Fund" initiative at the event.

This initiative, jointly launched by the Public Transport Council and the National Youth Council, aims to encourage more youth-led projects to promote a more courteous, caring, and inclusive commuting culture. Approved projects that benefit the community and society can receive up to $7,000 in seed funding.

Meanwhile, seven people were awarded the Caring Commuter Award at the event this year.

Among them were two students from Greenfield Secondary School, Yash Raj and Chen Zugen. In February this year, they assisted an injured lady at a light rail transit station, accompanied her to Sengkang General Hospital, and stayed with her until she received treatment. They also visited her the next day to check on her health condition.
