The first community space on the southern section of the rail corridor officially opens
The first community gathering point on the southern section of the rail corridor has been officially opened, where the public can enjoy a variety of leisure activities.
The 1.6-hectare community gathering point is located between The Metropolis and the new biomedical center Elementum, close to the Bonavista MRT station.
In addition to a children's playground incorporating nature-friendly elements, there is also a fitness area suitable for adults and seniors and a 500-square-meter lawn. The National Park Service has also planted special species of plants along the route, such as stone dragonflies and cattails, to provide new habitats for dragonflies and other creatures.
Minister of National Development Lee Chi-sheng opened the gathering point and said that after the land of the railway corridor was returned to my country in 2011, the authorities actively consulted the opinions of the people and planned the development of the railway corridor.
Li Zhisheng said: "The first is to retain it as a green artery to bring people closer to nature. The second is to re-plan and renovate nearby buildings. The third policy is to make full use of the surrounding land. For example, Bonneville The previously unused space under the northern side of the Starfield Viaduct has become a community gathering point, hosting community events, sports, cultural performances and more, becoming a vibrant space.”
Mr Li, who rides his bicycle through the southern section of the railway corridor every day, said the railway corridor has become more attractive with new community gathering points.
“There is a sense of freshness, there are scenery to see, and you can stop and take photos. Before, it was just a walk. Now there are fitness facilities suitable for seniors to get acquainted with and a playground for children to play. There will be more reasons to come here in the future. ”
Ms. Jiang, who lives nearby, said the community gathering point gives residents a better space for leisure.
